Shivani - 3

Shiva has come home sadly. From tomorrow onwards he has 10 days holidays. Neha went to her grandmother's home. Rekha did not  ask shiva to do anything.

Next day, he was woken up rekha and asking him take a bath. He silently went to the bathroom. He took a while to come out. When he came out. Rekha opened his wardrobe. All his male were removed, instead, he saw sarees and half saree, along with the blouses and petticoats. Not to mention nighties. He opened another drawer, he was ashamed to see bra and panties. He didn't know rekha bought them yesterday. Rekha took a padded bra and asked him to wear. He struggled to hook it. Rekha helped him to hook it. After wearing the panty. He wore the blouse and petticoat. He was looking at rekha with pleading eyes. But rekha didn't care. She took the saree and started to drape it. Rekha was teaching him at the same time. Rekha draped the saree perfectly. She wanted shiva's first saree to be perfect. After draping it, he sat before the dressing table and rekha started to do his make up. She is so happy. She thought this would happen. She always wanted a daughter, to braid her hair, help her in dressing up, sharing her feelings. Now she has it.

After the make up, rekha took the jewellery. Rekha put the earring to his ears, bangles to his delicate hands, a necklace around his neck. For rekha it's a dream and for shiva it's nightmare. Rekha got on her knees and fixed the anklets to his legs. Then she took the comb and started to brush his hair. Rekha was enjoying every moment. She started to braid his hair. After braiding his hair, she placed a bindi on his forehead. Rekha couldn't believe her eyes. Shiva is looking so beautiful. Even though he is a boy, the saree suited him perfectly. She placed her hands on his shoulders, she walked him out of his room. With his every step, the anklets are making the beautiful sound.

She has already made the breakfast. So they both sat on the dinning chairs. Rekha asked him to stand up and told him how to sit in a saree. As he was instructed, he sat elegantly with the pallu on his lap. She served the food and told him to take small bites. As shiva started eating, rekha was looking at him.

Rekha - Shiva, I have to say. I am happy, you grew you to hair long, Otherwise I would have never got a chance to see my daughter. Just imagine, in 2-3 years, your hair would cross your hips, when we we go to any function or a marriage in matching sarees with our hair touching our hips. Every mother would be jealous of us, now a days not all girls have long hair. Seeing you with long hair and traditional saree, they would be sad for not having a daughter like you.

Rekha kept on talking and shiva was very silent.

Rekha - I know, these all might be new to you but you will get used to it very soon. I will take it slowly, today you can watch the TV in the pretty saree but tomorrow onwards you are going to help me in household works.

The entire day rekha taught him how to sit and how to adjust the saree. She even shouted at him for not behaving like a proper lady. At night she asked him to change into a nighty before going to sleep.

Note - It's a sequel to BY NEXT DIWALI story.  For the next few months Jaya noticed Kumari and Sudhakar going out in matching sarees and having fun together.  What surprised Jaya is that somehow Kumari convinced Sudhakar to get his nose pierced. Sudhakar looked so beautiful with a nose stub.  After few more days, Kumari and Sudhakar moved to a different location because of Kumari's job.  As Jaya was working in the kitchen, she heard the sound of the door bell. She opened the door and saw a woman standing before her with a pleasant smile.  "Hi, I am Rupa. We just moved here", said Rupa pointing to a house, where Kumari and Sudhakar used to live.  Jaya greeted her back with a smile and invited her into the house.  "We ran out of gas, so If you don't mind, can you lend me gas cylinder? ", said Rupa "Even I don't have extra cylinder ", said Jaya Rupa was little disappointed.  "Just give me a sec", said Jaya and called someone.  After ...

Family tradition - 2

The day before Diwali, as expected Sumanth was shaving his beard. As he was fully concentrated, he didn't notice Neha standing near him. Just when he was shaving near the mustache, Neha pulled his hand a little. She immediately said sorry but the damage is already done.  When Sumanth looked in the mirror, he was stunned, half of his mustache is gone. He got really angry on Neha.  Neha acted like she was really sorry. With no choice, Sumanth shaved his face.  After shaving his face was burning.  Sumanth, I am really sorry. Here take this, this will help your after shave burns, said Neha.  Sumanth thought, Neha didn't do it voluntarily, so he forgave her.  What is it? Asked Sumanth taking a cream given by Neha Just apply it to your face and shave again, said Neha  Sumanth did like Neha told him. When he saw his face in the mirror, he was stunned. There is no trace of facial hair. It's so smooth.  Sumanth was annoyed of Neha.  When Radha a...

By next Diwali

Kumari went to her new neighbors home with a box of sweets as a Diwali gift.  As Kumari rang the door bell, Jaya opened the door and welcomed Kumari inside with a smile.  As they were talking about few things,  "I saw your daughter drawing a rangoli in the morning. You have raised her very well, the she handled her saree and drew the rangoli is very skillful", said Kumari praising Jaya's daughter.  "Thank you but actually she is not daughter biologically. She is actually my son", said Jaya Kumari laughed listening to it, thinking Jaya is joking, then Kumari realised Jaya is not saying it as a joke, she is serious.  Jaya understood it's very difficult for Kumari to believe it.  "See, during lock down for fun I dressed my son in my saree and he turned out to be very beautiful in the saree. So the entire lock down I insisted him to wear sarees, at first he was reluctant but slowly he got used to it", said Jaya with pride.  Listening to it Kumari was s...
