Started with the Braids - 1

 Mom! My braids are too tight, said Aruna

You will get used to them very soon, said Rekha with a smile 

Aruna never thought she would say it. Because Aruna is actually a boy, named Arun. 

After doing his hair, Rekha took flowers to pin them in his hair. Arun immediately said no but Rekha gave a stern look and pinned the flowers in his braids. 

Aruna come and have breakfast quickly. Your friends will be here soon. 

First of all, my name is not Aruna and they are not my friends, said Arun angrily. 

First of all, I don't see Arun, I only see a young school girl, got ready neatly in a chudi, with two braids with ribbons, wearing bangles, anklets, bindi and flowers in the hair. Secondly, girls are your friends, you go to school with them, you sit with them, you eat with them and you come home with them, said Rekha 

Arun got very angry but he could say anything. Just then the girls came home and he started to walk towards the school. 


It all started a year ago, he wanted to keep his hair long just like his favourite cricketer. As his grow longer, his mom and school principal asked him to get a hair cut, but he didn't. As his hair growth even more longer, his principal asked him to get a hair cut again. Arun also thought of having a hair cut. Just then a girl on his class, named neha 

Neha - he is gonna cut his hair, he is too scared of his mom and the principal 

Arun - I am not scared of anyone. I can grow my hair longer than your hair 

Neha - oh really! As you can see my hair is till my hips. You can't grow your hair that long. You are too scared. 

Arun - you know what, I am gonna grow my hair longer than yours. 

Neha - let's say, if you get a hair cut, you are not a man. Do you agree? 

Whole class was watching 

Arun - I agree. I will prove it to you.  A man doesn't break his promises. 

It started that day and a week ago. His principal was fed up with his behaviour, so he took Arun to his room and called few lady teachers too. 

Principal - OK, teachers, since Arun doesn't get a hair cut like boys. He has go dress up as girls

Arun was shocked, so are the teachers. He handed the teachers girls uniform and asked them to change his clothes. 

He waited outside, while the teachers closed the door and started to dress him up. Arun couldn't stop them. After 30 min, the door is opened and teachers pulled Aruna out along with them. 


The principal was happy seeing Aruna on a chudi, his hair is done. 

Principal - so teachers, you all have to treat Aruna as a  girl. He has to sit with girls. 

Arun was stunned. Teachers laughed and said OK. 

A teachers walked him into the class. Whole class was stunned and as instructed he was asked to sit with girls and the principal clearly warned all the boys not to tease Aruna or there will be consequences. 

He sat beside Neha. 

Neha has a wicked smile on her face. 

Neha - if you want you can get a hair cut today. But remember, men don't break a promise. I hope you are a man. 

Arun have no idea what to do. In the mean time, principal informed everything to Aruna's mom.

Arun woke up early in the morning and went to kitchen for coffee.  While having coffee he noticed his mom being very sad.  What happened mom?
